About
Michael Leong
Like many in this industry, I fell in love with film as a kid and made it my life's aim to make moving pictures. I've spent years seeking out jobs in every facet of filmmaking. I wanted to know how a movie was made; who was involved and why; and ultimately, how to craft films and videos that resonate with people. I went to film school in LA and worked there for a number of years afterwards. I got the knowledge and experience I sought as well as the sense of drive, urgency, and attentiveness found among many in Hollywood. Hired as a short film editor, compositor, motion graphics artist, animator, production assistant, producer, grip & electric, camera operator, set builder, miniature maker, and writer, I learned how to take an idea and make it into a film. In 2011, film and video work led me to Hong Kong and eventually brought me back home to the San Francisco Bay Area. I've gathered 16 years of experience in film, tv, and corporate video working in every phase of production. I produce and edit, but often work on set as a grip/camera operator (it's fun and the best way to find the right people to hire later on).
